Why do I care if my wordpress theme is accessible or not?

Well, firstly because we are sure that you are a nice person and that if YOU had a disability, YOU would like to still use your website. Secondly if you are in business, in the UK  alone, the "disabled pound" is worth 80 BILLION  GBP and that's a lot of customers and money for your company to exclude by having a website they can't use. Thirdly, the internet is fundamentally about connecting people to people.  If you website is inaccessible its simply not doing what the web is for.

Why are Accessible Themes different to other Wordpress themes?

Accessible Themes have three main elements that make them different

  • They are written to web standards but also employ multiple visible and ‘behind the scenes ‘ aids that allow users with disabilities access to your information and/or service and products
  • All our themes are tested by REAL people – both able bodies and disabled.  Although we use some automated testing when checking our sites meet the HIGHEST access standards, we also actually test them ALL individually.
  • All our themes have also been tested on everything we can lay our hands on – from the most beaten up pc with a small crappy monitor to the most state-of-the-art phone with web ‘n’ walk and small screen rendering. Accessibility for disabled people also means you website will work everywhere  and on everything!
